PG Diploma in Geoinformatics
Introduction :
Geoinformatics can be defined as a multidisciplinary science which develops and uses information science infrastructure to address the problems of geosciences and related branches of engineering. It is fundamental to all the disciplines, which use spatial data.Geoinformatics combines geospatial analysis and modeling, development of geospatial databases, information systems design, human-computer interaction and networking technologies.
Geoinformatics technologies include Ggeographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, photogrammetry, cartography, Gglobal Positioning Systems (GPS) and geodesy. Geoinformatics uses geocomputation for analysing geoinformation. Geo-informatics has a variety of applications — in defense, medicine, transport including Automated Vehicle Location System (AVLS), weather forecasting, disaster management, ecological conservation, streamlining public utility services, urban planning, environmental modeling, natural resource management, crime analysis etc.
