       Principal  ......

It is a matter of great pleasure to acquaint you with Govt. Holkar Science College a 119 year old institution with a golden heritage of learning and research in the field of natural and life sciences. The institution that laid foundation of higher education in central India constantly strives to keep up to the lofty ideals handed down to if by the preceding generation of eminent teachers like Prof. Ghosh, Prof. Deshpande, Prof. Padmanabhan, Prof. Bhagwat, Prof. Narayan singh and Prof. Ravi Prakash etc.

Induction of new courses and modifications and enrichment of existing courses is an on-going process in the institution. The academic autonomy conferred on the institution by the UGC has been used to design course/course content and the manner of evaluation with great flexibility and freedom.

While browsing through the website you would come to know of a variety of combinations of subjects available at UG level. The college offers PG education as well as research facilities in 12 subjects. While an M.Phil. Course in zoology in being run by the college at present, a number of such courses in subjects like Chemistry, Botany, Mathematics, Physics, Biotechnology, Biochemistry etc. are in the pipeline waiting for the final nod of higher authorities.

The college has a state of the art library building, the only one of its kind in a government college in the whole of the state. It has a rich collection of books and journals. Fully aware of the necessity of creating an environment which could ensure an all-round development of the students various activities are organized through agencies like NSS, NCC, sports department, cultural committee to name a few. Through them the students get ample opportunity to exploit their potential to their best advantage.

It can be a cherished dream of any teacher to serve his/her alma mater at some point of time in his/her career. I humbly admit that I am one of the chosen few who have ever got this opportunity to serve his alma mater in the highest (academic and administrative) capacity. I take it to be my sacred obligation to do everything possible to carry the invaluable heritage of research and learning a step ahead. I constantly visualize the institution being recognized as a science university one day. We have been making every possible effort in this direction and it is only a matter of time before our dream assumes the garb of reality. I am dead sure that day will come when a student of Holkar Science College will be honoured as a Nobel Laureate.

                                                                                                            With Compliments
